st.Anastasius the Sinaite
(Father of the Church, abbot and defender of the faith)
A Greek, Anastasius the Sinaite was born in Alexandria. He became the abbot of the monastery at Mount Sinai, where he earned the name of “the new Moses” for his vigorous attacks on groups seeking to influence the Church. He is best known for his work The Guide, a defense of the faith that remained popular for centuries.
