The Second Station
Jesus carries his Cross
Focus: Abortion - an act of cruelty on Humanity
Leader: We adore you oh Christ and we praise you!
All: Because by your holy Cross, you have redeemed the world!
Jesus willingly accepted death on the Cross to save us from sin and death. The brutality and the mockery of the soldiers and of the elders were also willingly accepted by him. He only challenged them when they struck him: “If I have said anything wrong, tell me; otherwise why do you beat me?” (Jn 18:23)
(Pause for meditation)
The many babies dying on account of abortion also cry out and tell us the same thing: “Oh father! Oh mother! If being conceived by you in your womb was not my mistake, why do you kill me? Why are you aborting me? Am I not a sign of your conjugal love? I have received life from God as a result of your love for each other. Do not kill me. Allow me to grow and I will become someone! I will bring laurels to your name! I want to live, mother. Let me live! Am I already a burden to you? I am, on the contrary, a message of God for you, a message of love, peace and life!”
Prayer: Dear Jesus, give your grace to all troubled parents to overcome the sense of shame they feel for whatever reason. May they realize their duty to let the child in the womb live and be loved.
Hail Mary full of grace ….
Leader: Forgive us the sins committed against these little souls and have mercy on us Oh Lord!
All: Have mercy on us!
