The Sixth Station
Veronica wipes the face of Jesus
Focus: The cry of the unborn for survival
Leader: We adore you oh Christ and we praise you!
All: Because by your holy Cross, you have redeemed the world!
The courage of Veronica, a righteous woman, was remarkable. The blood-stained face of Jesus, bruised by the sins of all humanity, moves her with compassion. Unable to stand the sight, she moves swiftly through the crowd towards Jesus with her towel to wipe the face of Jesus in order to restore its human beauty. As a token of appreciation, Jesus leaves the imprint of his face on the towel. What a miracle indeed!
(Pause for meditation)
Prayer: Oh Jesus, your incredible gift to Veronica reminds us today of the cry of the aborted for the soothing touch of many a Veronica. Grant that, like Veronica, we too may provide such parents with due moral strength to protect their children in the womb and show unconditional love and total acceptance to the newborn. May every baby experience the warmth of love, security, and comfort and be blessed with suitable conditions for their growth. Glory be to the Father….
Leader: Forgive us the sins committed against these little souls and have mercy on us Oh Lord.
All: Have mercy on us.
