The Thirteenth Station
Jesus is brought down from the Cross
Focus: Abortion - lack of human respect to the unborn
Leader: We adore you oh Christ and we praise you!
All: Because by your holy Cross, you have redeemed the world!
The body of Jesus now experiences peace. There is no one now to beat him, no one to pull, push or shove. Brought down from the Cross, his body is placed in the arms of Mary, his beloved mother. Even as she gazes on the battered body of Jesus, Mary offers all her heartache for sinful men. The body, prepared for burial, is laid in the tomb, there to lie awhile till the promise of rising again on the third day is fulfilled.
What is it that makes so many mothers turn their wombs into tombs for their own little innocent babies? Can motherly love ever permit them to kill their own offspring and scatter them anywhere and everywhere?
(Pause for meditation)
Prayer: Lord Jesus, open our hearts to take up the challenge of educating the wayward as regards the value of human persons and to thus help preserve the dignity of the unborn human person.
Our Father in heaven ….
Leader: Forgive us the sins committed against these little souls and have mercy on us Oh Lord!
All: Have mercy on us!
