Jesus Guides Us
Sheep without a shepherd are bewildered, and they wander about. They do not know where, when and how to go. They easily get lost and cannot find their way back to the fold. Without a shepherd they remain directionless. So is it with people. .
In the world in which we live, there is a cacophony of voices trying to beguile and mislead us. They may purport to give meaning and purpose to life, but, in actuality, they are wolves in sheep’s clothing. We need to have a genuine leader who could properly guide us on the path of life. The lack of such leadership leads us to be in a state of confusion, and we, often, wander aimlessly in life.
Jesus descended upon this earth to give an authoritative meaning and purpose to our lives. Henceforth, we need not fear of getting lost on our voyage of life. We have one great Shepherd who is ‘the way, the truth and the life (Jn 14:6)’. He is the sure way to life and truth. Once we were like sheep without a shepherd, but now we have a Shepherd to guide us on the way to the fullness of life. Therefore, let us return to Jesus, as St.Peter said, “to the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls (I Pet 2:25)”.
Let us heed the voice of our Good Shepherd and follow His guidelines. If not, we may stray away from the path that leads to life. King Solomon warned, “A man who strays away from the path of understanding comes to rest in the company of the dead (Pro 21:16).”
