The book Of The Bible Malachi
The book of Malachi is by an anonymous author at the time of Nehemiah’s arrival in Jerusalem (455 BCE). The name Malachi comes from the Hebrew meaning “My Messenger” and was intentionally used to disguise the actual author of the harsh criticism leveled against the leadership at the time. Malachi prophesies about the coming of a day when a forerunner will bring the message of repentance and true worship (3.1-4) Jesus quotes this text as being Fulfilled in John the Baptist (Mt 11.10). Also, Malachi is the final book of the OT and, for Christians, anticipates the NT with its ending passage about the coming of Elijah before “the great and terrible day of the LORD.” This is understood to refer to the time of Christ.
