Jesus falls beneath the cross the first time
Focus: The Child-a gift of God in love
Leader: We adore you oh Christ and we praise you!
All: Because by your holy Cross, you have redeemed the world!
Right from the beginning, God has always delighted in his creation. His delight reaches its peak when a child is formed as a result of the conjugal love of a couple. In the beginning God blessed Adam and Eve saying, “Increase and multiply and fill the whole world” (Gen 9:1).
(Pause for meditation)
How numerous are the couples who do not yet understand the meaning of their conjugal life! For them what matters is sex and pleasure. They are yet to understand that going beyond all carnality, they are to nourish and strengthen their family life and accept children as God’s gift to them; that through the promise made to each other at the time of marriage they share their love for and life with each other. But alas! Many marriages break up not long after they are celebrated, leading to illicit relationships, often resulting in abortion.
Prayer: Oh Jesus, Lord and Master, may your falling under the heavy Cross of our sins inspire all men and women to show true love to their newborn and unborn babies and to keep them ever safe and secure. Amen. Glory be to the Father …
Leader: Forgive us the sins committed against these little souls and have mercy on us Oh Lord!
All: Have mercy on us!
